Striped Crochet Cowl


Project Skill Level: Easy – Beginner Level

This pattern uses US terms.

Materials List

  • Weight 4 Yarn in two different colours *
  • H/8 or 5mm Crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Tape Measure
  • Yarn needle

Crochet Gauge: 4 sts x 2 rows in dc = 1“ square

* If you want to use a different weight yarn, just follow these measurements and use the recommended hook size for your yarn choice:

13” x 7" (starting chain will need to measure 26”)

Notes:

  • This pattern is made in the round. The beginning CH 2 counts as the first stitch.
  • There is no CH 1 for the accent colour rows.
  • I made the hat that's pictured following this pattern: Hat w/Flower. I designed the cowl to match it.

Abbreviations:

CH = chain
SC = single crochet
HDC = half-double crochet
DC = double crochet
SL ST = slip stitch
BLO = Back Loop Only

Colour A = Main Colour Colour B = Accent Colour


Pattern: CH 90, SL ST to first CH (make sure the CH isn’t twisted)

Round 1: Using Colour A, CH 2, DC into the same stitch and across the row, SL ST into the top of the starting CH 1 (90)

Round 2: Using Colour B, CH 1, HDC BLO across the row, SL ST into the top of the starting CH 1 (90)

Round 3-4: Using Colour A, CH 2, DC into the same stitch and across the row, SL ST into the top of the starting CH 2 (90)

Round 5: Using Colour B, HDC BLO across the row, SL ST into the top of the starting CH 1 (90)

Round 6-7: Using Colour A, CH 2, DC into the same stitch and across the row, SL ST into the top of the starting CH 2 (90)

Round 8: Using Colour B, HDC BLO across the row, SL ST into the top of the starting CH 1 (90)

Round 9-14: Using Colour A, CH 2, DC into the same stitch and across the row, SL ST into the top of the starting CH 2 (90)

Round 15: Using Colour B, HDC into the same stitch and across the row, SL ST into the top of the starting CH 1 (90)
