Quick & Easy Chunky Mini-Cowl

Project Skill Level – Beginner
This Pattern Uses U.S. Terms

Materials:

Chunky (Bulky) Yarn 
8.0mm Hook
Scissors
Tape Measure
Yarn Needle

Size: Average Adult

Measurements: 13” Long (26” Circumference) – 4” Wide 

Gauge: 10 Double Crochet = 4 Inches

Stitches & Abbreviations:

• Chain (CH) - Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Pull through stitch and loop
• Double Crochet (DC) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.
• Half Double Crochet (HDC) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 3 loops. 
• Back Bump - BB
• Stitch(es) – ST(s)
• Slip Stitch – SL ST
• BLO – Back Loop Only
• FLO – Front Loop Only

Notes:

CH 1 and CH 2 do not count as a ST.

Pattern:

Cowl -

CH 60, join with SL ST

Row 1:  CH 1, DC BB only in same and in each ST around, SL ST to join. (60)

Row 2-6: CH 2, DC BLO in same ST and in each ST around, SL ST to join.

CH 1, tie off, weave ends

Center Piece -

Row 1: CH 11, HDC in 2nd CH from hook & in each across. CH 1, turn.

Row 2: In FLO, HDC in same and in each ST across. CH 1, turn.

Row 3: HDC in same and in each ST across. CH 1, turn.

Row 4: In FLO, HDC in same and in each ST across.

CH 1, tie off, leave a long tail

 

Finishing - 

Wrap bow center around headband and using the long tail, mattress stitch the ends together.

Tie off

Weave ends
