The Maz Extra Chunky Ear Warmer

Materials:

 

Super Chunky (Super Bulky) Yarn

15 mm Hook

Tape Measure

Scissors

Yarn Needle

 

Size: Average Adult

 

Measurements: 10.5” Long (21” Circumference) – 5” Wide

 

Gauge: Not Important

Stitches & Abbreviations:


  • Chain (CH) - Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Pull through stitch and loop.
  • Single Crochet (SC) – Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.
  • Double Crochet (DC) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.
  • Half Double Crochet (HDC) – Yarn over. Insert hook into stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 3 loops.
  • Suzette Stitch – SC and DC in the same stitch, skip next stitch.
  • Back Bump - BB
  • Stitch(es) – ST(s)
  • Slip Stitch – SS


Special Stitch:

  • Third Loop Only (3LO) – Insert hook into side loop of stitch. Yarn over. Draw up loop. Yarn over. Pull through 2 loops.


Notes:


CH 1 does not count as a ST.





Pattern:

 

CH 26


Row 1 – HDC BB in 2nd CH from the hook and across the row, CH 1, turn. (25)


Row 2 – SC 3LO (helpful tutorial) in the 1st ST and across the row, CH 1, turn. (25)


Row 3 – Suzette ST in the 1st ST and across the row until last ST, SC in last ST, CH 1, turn. (25)


Row 4 – 1 SC in 1st ST, Suzette ST in next ST and across the row until last two STs, 1 SC, 1 DC, Ch 1, turn. (25)


Row 5 – HDC in 1st ST and across the row, CH 1, turn. (25)


Row 6 – SC 3LO in the 1st ST and across the row, CH 1, turn. (25)

Tie off leaving a long tail.

Using the long tail, join the short sides of the ear warmer with a mattress stitch (or your preferred method).
